bullet Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” Comes to Life through Local Story-Teller

AKRON, OH, November 11, 2007 – Christ Church, a multi-cultural United Methodist congregation located in West Akron, will host local story-teller John Ferris in his performance of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” Saturday, December 1, 2007.

The entire performance is recited from memory, using the same manuscript Dickens himself used in public readings. Ferris plays the narrator and all of the story’s characters in presenting the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and the life-changing series of events that befall him.

Ferris’ performance will take place at Christ Church, 380 Mineola Ave. in Akron. The performance begins at 10 AM with a breakfast preceding the event at 9 AM. Both the performance and the breakfast are open to the public and free of charge.

Rev. Ferris, Pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Alliance, Ohio, has been sharing this immortal story at churches and schools throughout the community for over forty years. Ferris’ father, a former professor of speech at the College of Wooster, shared this same story with the community for fifty years.

Christ Church welcomes diversity and celebrates God’s care for each individual’s journey of faith. Christ Church reaches out, next door and around the world, to nurture the spirit, strengthen belief, and live in love.
